Best of 2010:

Shakira:
Shakira's "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)", was chosen as the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, along with its Spanish language version, titled "Waka Waka (Esto es África)". The song has received generally positive critical reception, and has become a worldwide smash hit, selling more than 4 million copies worldwide, becoming the biggest selling World Cup song of all time. On YouTube, the English version of the music video is the fourth most watched video, and third most watched music video of all time with over 250 million views. Her seventh studio album, the bilingual Sale el Sol, was released October 19, 2010.

Rihanna:


During the summer, Rihanna collaborated with rapper Eminem on "Love the Way You Lie". The song became Rihanna's seventh number one hit single on the Hot 100 of her career, making her the female artist with the fifth-most number ones in the chart's history.  
Rihanna released her fifth studio album, Loud, on November 16, 2010. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, selling 207,000 copies in its first week, becoming the fifth top-ten album of Rihanna's career in the US, with her best week of sales. Its lead single was "Only Girl (In the World)". After many weeks, the song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. "Only Girl" also reached number one in many other countries .The album's second single, "What's My Name?", featuring rapper Drake, also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Although it was the second single from Loud, it reached the top spot before the first single, "Only Girl (In the World)" making it the first time in Hot 100 history that an album's debut single reached number one after the second single.
On December 5, 2010, Rihanna had three songs in the top ten on the UK singles chart with "Only Girl (In The World)" at number seven, "What's My Name?" at number eight, and the David Guetta single "Who's That Chick?" at number nine.
There are also some other good songs such as Rude Boy, California King Bed, Te Amo or  Hard.

            Katy Perry:

            Perry's second mainstream studio album was titled Teenage Dream and was released in August 2010. The first single from the album was titled "California Gurls". The single peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.  The album's second single "Teenage Dream" was released in July 2010. "Firework" is the album's third single.
            Katy Perry appeared at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, 2010.
            Perry has announced her own fragrance to be released in autumn of this year, named "Purr".
            On October 23, 2010, Perry married comedian Russell Brand. Brand proposed to Perry in India outside the Taj Mahal, December 2009.

              The Black Eyed Peas:

              The group's fifth studio album, The E.N.D. ("The Energy Never Dies"), was released on June 9, 2009. The first single was "Boom Boom Pow"  Three promotional singles, "Imma Be", "Alive", and "Meet Me Halfway", were released through the iTunes Store in the three weeks running up to the album's release. In its first week, the album sold 304,000 copies and debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200.  The album has spent 38 weeks within the top 10 of the Billboard 200.

              After the release of The E.N.D., the Black Eyed Peas released "I Gotta Feeling" as the official second single from the album. It was produced by David Guetta. Moreover, the collaboration of this artist with the Black Eyed Peas is a significant reason of the recent success of the group.

              "Meet Me Halfway" was released as the third single from the album in September 2009.


              "Imma Be" was released as the fourth single in the U.S. and "Rock That Body" was then released as the fifth single.

              The group performed at the Grammys on January 31, 2010. They performed a mash-up of "Imma Be"/"I Gotta Feeling". In the same night, they won 3 out of the 6 awards they were nominated for including Best Pop Vocal Album for The E.N.D., Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Group for "I Gotta Feeling" and Best Short Form Video for "Boom Boom Pow".

              On June 10, 2010 The Black Eyed Peas performed "Where is the Love?", "Pump It", "Meet me Halfway", "Boom Boom Pow", and "I Gotta Feeling" at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration concert in South Africa. The concert had over 700 million viewers world wide. Making it the biggest event the group performed in.

              On June 6, 2010, the band confirmed that they were working on a new album in an interview for The Big Issue. The album was described as a sequel to The E.N.D. Will.i.am announced that the new album, which "symbolizes growth, new beginnings and starts a fresh new perspective," will be titled The Beginning. The album was released on November 30, 2010 and received mixed reviews and poor sales. The album's first single is called "The Time (Dirty Bit)",

              Kesha:

              "Tik Tok" was released as Kesha's debut single digitally in the US in August and sent to radio two months later. The song was a commercial success topping the charts in eleven countries.
              In October 2010, the single was certified five times platinum for sales of five million downloads in the US.  Kesha's debut album, Animal, was released in January 2010 
              "Blah Blah Blah", "Your Love Is My Drug" and "Take It Off" were released as the album's second, third and forth singles, respectively. All three songs achieved similar commercial success each reaching the top ten in Australia, Canada, and the US.
              "Tik Tok", "Your Love Is My Drug" and Animal were each nominated for a number of awards at a variety of events, the abundance of these awards were presented and hosted by MTV. By March, Animal had sold a million copies worldwide.  Kesha was featured on two top ten singles by Taio Cruz and 3OH!3 in May.

              Animal was re-released with a companion extended play, Cannibal, in November. Lead single, "We R Who We R" debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

              Eminem:

               His last album name is Recovery  and sold 741,000 in its first week to land atop the Billboard 200.
              The first single, "Not Afraid", was released on April 29, and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by a second single, "Love the Way You Lie," which debuted at number 2 and then rose. On November 21, 2010 (2010 -11-21), the album had sold three million copies in the US.

              Eminem and Rihanna collaborated once again to make "Love the Way You Lie, Part II", the sequel to their hit single "Love the Way You Lie". Rihanna is the lead singer, as opposed to Eminem being the main singer in the the original "Love the Way You Lie". The song is said to be from the female perspective. Nicki Minaj has said that she has collaborated with rapper Eminem on a song titled "Roman's Revenge" that is expected to appear on her Pink Friday album.
              Eminem is featured on the track "That's All She Wrote" on T.I.'s album No Mercy.

              In December, 2010, in Billboard's "The Top 25 Music Moments of 2010", The "Great Eminem Recovery" was named the number one music moment of 2010.

              Jason Derulo:

              On August 4, 2009, Jason released his debut single, "Whatcha Say". In late August 2009, the song debuted at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit number 1 in November 2009. The single's music video was released in September 2009; after the single became successful, Derülo began work on his debut album. He released the second single from his album, "In My Head", on December 8, 2009. It debuted at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100, and reached number five.
              Derülo's debut album, Jason Derülo, was released on March 2, 2010. He spent six weeks promoting the album in his appearances as one of the opening acts for Lady Gaga's 2009–2010 The Monster Ball Tour. The third single of the album is "Ridin' Solo," which was released worldwide on April 26, 2010. By July, the single had reached number nine in the Billboard Hot 100. Derülo has also recently been featured in a song by new artist Will Roush called "Turn it Up," which also features Stat Quo and Young Buck.

              Bruno Mars:


              Before becoming a successful solo artist, Bruno Mars was an acknowledged music producer, writing songs for Alexandra Burke, Travie McCoy, Adam Levine, Brandy, and Sean Kingston, as well as Flo Rida. He reached prominence as a solo artist after being featured on and co-writing B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire"; both songs peaked within the top ten of many charts worldwide.


              Mars' debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, was released digitally on October 4, and saw its physical release on October 5, 2010. The lead single, "Just the Way You Are", was released on July 19, 2010, and has reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Two songs from the album, "Liquor Store Blues" featuring Damian Marley and "Grenade" were released to the iTunes Store as promotional singles.
              In the United States, Doo-Wops & Hooligans debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 for the week of October 13, 2010, selling 55,000 copies.

              Usher: 

              Raymond v. Raymond, was released on March 2010. The album was released only months after Usher's divorce from Tameka Foster. "Papers" was released as the first promotional single for the album in October 2009 on iTunes. Despite being only a promotional release, it topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for two consecutive weeks, becoming his tenth number one single on that chart. It also peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. The song itself appears to be loosely based on his failed relationship with his ex wife Tameka.
              "OMG", which features will.i.am, is the third official US single and the first international single.

              Raymond v. Raymond also dominated the International Charts. Debuting inside the top 10 in Canada, the United Kingdom, Holland, Australia, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Due to the huge international success of Ushers newest single "OMG" and the good first week sales for Raymond v. Raymond Usher is considered to have repaired his mainstream image and to have made a good comeback.
              Usher announced on July 8, 2010, a follow-up extended play to his sixth studio album Raymond v. Raymond called Versus, and a deluxe edition of Raymond v. Raymond, both to be released on August 24, 2010. Usher described Versus as "the last chapter of Raymond v. Raymond", and that it would explore the subjects of being newly single and a father. The album included 9 tracks, including 7 new tracks, Raymond v. Raymond single "There Goes My Baby", and Justin Bieber single "Somebody to Love (Remix)". The tracks would be included on a deluxe edition of Raymond v. Raymond. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart and is preceded by the singles "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" featuring Pitbull, for mainstream audiences, and "Hot Tottie" featuring Jay-Z, for urban circuits.
              The first single off the album, "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love", was released to iTunes on July 13, 2010 and sent to radio on July 20, 2010. Due to strong digital sales the song debuted at number nineteen on the Billboard Hot 100.
              Usher appeared at the 2010 MTV VMAs on September 12, 2010. He then performed at the 2010 American Music Awards on November 21, 2010 and also won the awards for Male Soul/R&B artist and Favorite Soul/R&B album for his album, Raymond v. Raymond.

              Cheryl Cole:


              3 Words spent two weeks at number one. The first single from the album, "Fight for This Love" by Cheryl Cole, it was written by Andre Merritt, Steve Kipner and Wayne Wilkins, and produced by Steve Kipner and Wayne Wilkins.  "Fight for This Love" became the fourth best-selling single of 2009 in the UK. She also has some other good songs such as "3 words" or "Promise This".

              During 2009 he worked on his follow up album titled Rokstarr. It was released on 12 October. The album's lead single "Break Your Heart" was released on 14 September and reached number one in the UK, where it stayed for three weeks. The single spent six weeks in the top-ten. It also reached the top spot in the US for one week on the Billboard charts. The album spawned two other UK singles, "No Other One", and the top-ten hit "Dirty Picture" featuring American  singer Kesha. The album's fourth single (second in the US) was "Dynamite".

              Train:

              On August 11, 2009, Train released its first single in more than three years. The song "Hey, Soul Sister", from their fifth studio album, Save Me San Francisco, was released on October 27, 2009. The single was a major success, becoming their second-career top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Like their earlier hit Get to Me, this song gained further popularity when it was used as the commercial soundtrack to launch Samsung's 3D television during the Oscars. It is now their highest-charting single since "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)". The album itself peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album received positive reviews from critics and has restored Train's popularity.
              Train's second single off the album, "If It's Love" peaked number 34, making it their most successful secondary single off any record.

              Justin Bieber:

              "Baby", the lead single from the second half of his debut album, which features Ludacris, was released in January 2010 and became his biggest hit thus far, charting at number five in the U.S. and reaching the top ten in seven other countries. Two digital singles, "Never Let You Go", and "U Smile" were top thirty hits on the U.S. Hot 100, and top twenty hits in Canada. It debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, making Bieber the youngest solo male act to top the chart since Stevie Wonder in 1963.  To promote the album, Bieber appeared on several live programs including The View, the 2010 Kids Choice Awards, etc.   The second single from My World 2.0, "Somebody to Love", was released in April 2010, and a remix was released featuring Bieber's mentor Usher. In June 2010, it reached 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

              In July 2010, it was reported that Bieber was the most searched for celebrity on the Internet. That same month his music video, "Baby", surpassed Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" to become the most viewed YouTube video ever.
              British singer/songwriter Taio Cruz confirmed in July 2010 that he is writing songs for Bieber's next album.
              Bieber guest-starred in the season premiere of the CBS crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, aired on September 23, 2010.
              Bieber performed a medley of "U Smile", "Baby," and "Somebody to Love" and briefly played the drums at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, 2010.
              Bieber announced in October 2010 that he would release an acoustic album, called My Worlds Acoustic. It will featured acoustic versions of songs from his previous albums, as well as completely new song called "Pray".

              B.O.B

              His debut album, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, was  released on April 27, 2010 due to the commercial success of his song "Nothin' on You". The album  includes features from Lupe Fiasco, T.I., Playboy Tre, Hayley Williams (of Paramore), Rivers Cuomo (of Weezer), Rico Barrino, Janelle Monáe, Bruno Mars, and Eminem.
              Three other singles followed: "Don't Let Me Fall" (released April 6, 2010), "Airplanes" (April 13, 2010; featuring vocals from Hayley Williams), and "Bet I" (April 20, 2010; featuring T.I. and Playboy Tre). His album sold 84,000 copies in the first week and debuted of number 1 on the Billboard 200. It made B.o.B the 13th male solo artist to have a debut album at number 1 on its first week.
              B.o.B has received nominations for his album, singles, and himself by the BET Awards, Teen Choice Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and the new Suckerfree Summit. "Airplanes" was featured in the trailer for the upcoming movie Charlie St. Cloud and "Magic" also landed him an Adidas commercial with him in it. B.o.B was announced to be a performer at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on August 18.
